The Slippery Slope of Working “HARDER”

Have you ever looked around and wondered why, despite your hard work, you still feel stuck? I used to be one of those people. Every day, I saw others chasing their dreams while I followed what I was taught to believe was the safer path, a job, supporting someone else's dream while mine withered into oblivion. I convinced myself that it was the responsible choice. But as time went on, I began to question: is this truly the way out or just a trap?

From the very beginning, we’re taught to fear risk. I remember being told to follow the rules, memorize information, and stay in line. I riled everyday from within at this notion. Success was defined by getting good grades, landing a stable job, and then committing to that job for decades, even if it felt like it was draining my essence and selling my soul. But did this really lead to fulfillment? Or was I just walking a familiar path without thinking about where I was headed?

For years, I asked myself, why am I studying subjects that bore me? Why am I chasing someone else's dream? All in the hopes of achieving a sense of security that often felt more like a mirage than a reality. I woke up when I realized that security is an illusion when you’re living paycheck to paycheck, always one sudden misfortune away from financial disaster. Many of us struggle not because we lack intelligence or hard work, but because we’ve been conditioned to believe we must follow the safe route.

Why weren't we shown that we could be owners, creators, and leaders? Why didn’t anyone tell us that building wealth is possible for those who dare to DREAM? Opportunities rarely fall in our laps without the dreams ignited and burning brightly to light our path.

People often overlook the fact that those of us who feel trapped in poverty, insecurity, mediocrity, despondency and lack usually work the hardest. We sacrifice our health and sleep, hustling just to get by. But to merely survive is not the same as BEING free.

Are you juggling multiple jobs, working day and night, yet feeling trapped in a cycle that refused to let you rise above? It isn’t because you lack potential; it’s because never having been given permission or taught to dream, to explore and to truly express the magic within you.

Think about it: a salary may help you scrape by, but profit and ease gives you the power to truly live. Yes, a limited mindset like a steady paycheck may fill your fridge and covers your bills, but comes with limitations. You’re trading something very finite hoping to win. It’s not possible! It’s like trading your time for money, when time is finite. There’s a ceiling on what you can earn, and if someone doesn’t lift it for you, you’re stuck in place.

Now consider in unlimited mindset, like profit and ease, there are no boundaries. You are reward for you passion and focus on a dream that brings life and value for others. So why do so many of us shy away from our dreams? Often, it’s not due to a lack of desire, but because deep down, we’ve internalized the message that success isn’t meant for us. I certainly did.

I grew up watching my mom struggle, facing hardships and hearing the whispers that people like us don’t get rich. Those thoughts can weigh heavily on your mind, shaping your reality and holding you back.

Lack, Poverty, Struggle, Mediocrity isn’t simply a lack of money; it’s a mindset, a lack of exposure, expression, lack of knowing self, and lack of vision. It’s waking up every day feeling trapped, devoid of support, and unsure about the future. It’s watching others create their successes and frustratingly thinking, “Why can't I do that?” It's dreaming of being someone else because being ourselves is not good enough. It’s yearning for more for your children, but feeling helpless to provide it. It’s pushing yourself to the brink of exhaustion, all while feeling you’re not doing enough.

Do you notice also how society often blames the hustlers and those just getting by for their financial struggles, as if telling them to just “work HARDER” is going to magically fix everything. But isn’t that approach more like trying to fill a well with a bucket full of holes? It’s exhausting without any gain.

So, what’s the answer? It starts with a shift in mindset. We need education that empowers, inspires, and opens our eyes to new possibilities. We must teach not just how to get a job, but how to create the dreams in your heart and allow the passion of the dream to shape you from the inside out. We have to normalize conversations around self-worth, self belief, and self knowing. We need to open up to full expression and see how we fit beautifully in the world of success with ease and grace.

It’s essential to cultivate the belief that we can rise above our circumstances, that our current situation does not dictate our future. You are unique beings with unique stories and ideas and the world craves for your message from your heart.

Most importantly, we must tackle the limiting beliefs that keep us stuck in indecision and procrastination. It’s crucial to remind ourselves that failure is training and is part of the journey. Every successful leader or entrepreneur has faced setbacks. Failure is good, it is essential for success, it is far from the end, it’s simply a stepping stone toward growth.

What truly matters is not how many times you face dive, but how many times you pick yourself up, straighten your crown and tell the story of how you fell and got up again with greater passion, and newfound wisdom and strength. Once you recognize that you don’t have to trade your time for mere survival, and you learn that you hold the power to create your own future, that’s when everything changes. That’s when you stop seeking security and start living fully in the freedom that comes from embracing your purpose.
